Cherry the Blue Streak Lory

Interesting Fact: Also referred to as the "brush tongued" parrots, Lories are generally found in flocks and range throughout the islands of Indonesia, French Polynesia, New Guinea and Australia.

Cherry is a 6-yr. old from Concord, CA whose breeder mistook for a male paired to another male.

Fiesty and unfriendly when she first arrived, Cherry was trained for 3 or 4 months to get her used to handling. It was one year before Cherry was introduced into our animal assisted therapy program.

Now Cherry loves to be stroked and is popular among Seniors because of her vibrant coloring.

Blue Streaked Lories are found on the Tenimber Islands, Indonesia and were the first Lory listed as an endangered species. They are doing well in captivity and make very lovable companions.
